Junior Cricket League from Sunday
KATHMANDU:- The Junior Cricket League (JCL) – Season 2, organized by Angels’ Heart National School, is set to begin on Sunday.
Tak Bahadur Thapa, Principal of the organizing school, Angels’ Heart, announced at a press conference on Tuesday that 24 teams would participate in the tournament.
Suman Timilsina, Head of the Sports Department at the organizing body Angels Heart, announced that the winner of the tournament—organized with the support of Angels Sports Academy and Recreation Centre and the Nepal Premier League (NPL) team Kathmandu Gurkhas—will receive a cash prize of 30,000, while the runner-up will receive 20,000.
Awards will also be presented to the Player of the Tournament, Best Batsman, Best Bowler, Emerging Player, and the Most Disciplined Team.
On the same occasion, Nepal Olympic Committee Secretary Ramkrishna Shrestha, former national men’s cricket team member Sharad Vesawkar, and Angels Heart President Lil Bahadur Pun unveiled the trophy in the presence of the participating teams’ captains.
Principal Thapa stated that the Junior Cricket League is not merely a competition but a powerful medium for producing national-level players starting from the school level. He mentioned that the tournament would incur an expenditure of approximately 610,000 rupees.
Khim Thapa, President of Angels Sports Academy and Recreation Center, and Technical Chief Rabindra Gupta, among others, were present on the occasion. The T-10 indoor cricket matches, which run until Shrawan 28, will be played at the Angels Sports Complex in Manmaiju.
