Supreme Court granted to Review to dispute over Congress party’s official status

KATHMANDU:- The Supreme Court has issued an order granting permission to review its earlier verdict regarding the dispute over the official status of the Nepali Congress.

A full bench comprising Chief Justice Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma and Justices Nityananda Pandey and Shrikanta Paudel issued the order today allowing the review of the previous decision. With this court order, the verdict on the Nepali Congress’s official status dispute is set to undergo a review.

Sher Bahadur Deuba, the then President of the Congress party, and Acting President Purna Bahadur Khadka had filed a petition with the Supreme Court seeking a review of the matter. The Court has now granted leave (permission) for such a review.

Earlier, a bench comprising Justices Saranga Subedi and Nripadhwaj Niraula had recognized the working committee led by Gagan Kumar Thapa—who was elected President through a special general convention—on the 4th of Baisakh, (April 17).
