‘Old is Gold’ film screening concluded with showing of ‘Badalindo Akash’ and ‘Jivanrekha’

KATHMANDU:- The ‘Old is Gold’ screening series of historic Nepali films concluded on Wednesday with the showing of the movies ‘Badalindo Akash’ and ‘Jivanrekha’. Before the screenings began, there was a question of whether audiences would turn up to watch films from years past on the big screen. However, all shows throughout the seven-day event drew a significant audience.

The ‘Old is Gold’ series has concluded with the screenings of ‘Badalindo Aakash’ and ‘Jivanrekha’. The closing ceremony was attended by veteran artists Shiva Shrestha, Santosh Panta, Harihar Sharma, Shakuntala Sharma, Tika Pahari, and Sushma Shahi, as well as director Lakshminath Sharma and Prabha Dhakal—the Nepali film industry’s first professional hairdresser—among others.

The event was attended by, among others, actors Arun Chhetri and Simran Khadka, director Dr. Kapil Rijal, and producer Suman Giri from the film ‘Gauthali’. Arun Chhetri and Simran Khadka play the lead roles in ‘Gauthali’, while Dr. Kapil Rijal serves as the director and Suman Giri is one of the producers.

Bhuwan Chand, the first actress of Nepali cinema, offered blessings and a ‘Khada’ to actress Simran Khadka; veteran actor Shiva Shrestha to actor Arun Chhetri; director Lakshminath Sharma to director Dr. Kapil Rijal; veteran artist Tika Pahari to producer Suman Giri; and veteran artist Santosh Panta to distributor Karan Krezil.

Under the ‘Old is Gold’ banner, the films ‘Aama’, ‘Sindoor’, ‘Parivartan’, ‘Ke Ghar Ke Dera’, ‘Manko Baandh’, *Kumari*, ‘Shantideep’, ‘Hijo Aaja Bholi’, ‘Badalindo Aakash’, and ‘Jivanrekha’ were screened over a period of seven days.

Bhuwan Chand, Chaitya Devi Singh, Basundhara Bhusal, and Bimala Shrestha lit the ceremonial lamp at the event’s inauguration. The Film Development Board organized this exhibition to provide the new generation with an opportunity to understand history.
