KATHMANDU:- After the ruling party, the Rastriya Swatantra Party, passed a resolution to abolish provinces and restructure federalism at its general convention, Madhesh-centric parties are preparing for the movement. On Saturday, leaders of Madhesh-centric parties and some civic leaders decided to hold a meeting and go on the movement.
In the meeting on Saturday, Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal Patron and National Assembly Member Mahantha Thakur, Rastriya Mukti Party Nepal President Rajendra Mahato, Janmat Party President Dr. CK Raut, Janata Pragatisheel Party President Hridayesh Tripathi, JSP Nepal leader Rajkishore Yadav, Rastriya Mukti Party General Secretary Keshav Jha, Santosh Mehta and Ram Kumar Sharma, among other leaders and some civic leaders were present.
A leader participating in the meeting said, “A separate organization will be formed for the movement, but it will not be a political party. Rather than a political party, a separate non-partisan organization will be formed to carry out the movement, which will include leaders of political parties and civil society leaders.”
The leaders say that the RSP has always been an anti-federalist party and the current general convention has confirmed that.
The leaders have made a plan to rise above the party lines and join the movement to save federalism, and to involve individuals from every party, civil society and other sectors in the movement. The issue of who will lead the movement and what the name of the organization will be has not yet been decided, but there has been an agreement to go on a non-political movement, the leaders said.
JSP Nepal Chairman Upendra Yadav was not invited to the movement-focused meeting.
