KATHMANDU:- Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa has accused the government of treating private sector representatives like criminals.
Thapa made this accusation while speaking at a program held on Sunday at the party’s central office in Sanepa. While expressing the party’s full support for the government’s legal actions against economic crimes, he objected to the treatment of private sector representatives as if they were fraudsters.
He clarified that the Congress would support the government in its efforts to ensure good governance and take action against those involved in economic crimes, regardless of whether the individuals concerned are party members, leaders, or relatives.
However, he alleged that the private sector has become apprehensive due to the government’s working style. Noting that a narrative has been created portraying individuals in the private sector—such as construction entrepreneurs and bankers—as fraudsters, he remarked that this trend has negatively impacted the country’s investment and entrepreneurship.
He remarked that no one is willing to start a new business due to the atmosphere of fear prevailing in the country. Chairman Thapa observed that the government has failed to instill confidence in anyone—whether low-income earners, the middle class, or individuals capable of mobilizing capital.
