Rainfall across the country; Heavy rain likely in hilly areas of four provinces
KATHMANDU:- The country is currently under the influence of the monsoon winds.
Since the monsoon trough is around its average position, the weather is generally cloudy across the country.
Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is taking place in some places of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, and a few places in Lumbini Province.
According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, the weather will generally remain cloudy across the country this afternoon.
In some places of the hilly and mountainous regions, there is a possibility of moderate rain and snowfall with thunder and lightning.
As reported, in the Terai and Madhes regions of Bagmati, Gandaki, and Sudurpashchim provinces, as well as in some Terai areas of Koshi and Lumbini provinces, there is a possibility of moderate rain with thunder and lightning.
Heavy rain is expected in one or two hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces.
Tonight, it will generally remain cloudy across the country. In some mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, and in the snowy regions of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces, there is a possibility of moderate rain and snowfall with thunder and lightning.
Similarly, moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning is likely in many hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, and in some hilly areas of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces.
There is also a possibility of moderate rainfall in the Terai regions of Madhesh Province, Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, as well as some parts of the Terai in Lumbini and Sudurpashchim provinces.
The Division has reported that a few places in the hilly and Terai areas of Koshi and Bagmati provinces and in the hilly areas of Gandaki Province might experience heavy rainfall.
In places with the possibility of heavy rainfall, there could be risks of flash floods, floods, landslides, and soil erosion. This can affect daily life as well as agriculture, health, tourism, mountaineering, roads, and air transport in those areas.
The Division has requested everyone to adopt necessary cautionary measures and stay updated with official weather information.
