‘Campaign to strengthen party organization and uphold internal democracy not halted’
KATHMANDU:- Nepali Congress General Secretary Gururaj Ghimire has stated that he respects the Supreme Court’s legal process, noting that the court has moved the matter regarding the party’s official status into the review stage. He clarified that even as the legal process proceeds, the campaign to strengthen the party organization and uphold internal democracy, good governance, and public trust will not be halted.
In a statement issued by General Secretary Ghimire, it is noted that the current direction of the Nepali Congress is determined by the confidence of the majority of General Convention representatives, the constitutional mandate of the Special General Convention, and the shared resolve for party transformation. He stated that while the legal process will take its own course, the campaign to strengthen the organization will move forward with even greater momentum.
He stated that while accepting dissent is the essence of democracy, it should not be allowed to devolve into endless dispute. He maintains that dialogue, institutional processes, and the party statute constitute the reliable foundations of a democratic party.
Ghimire noted that the tendency to accept institutional decisions only when they are favorable—while rejecting them when they are unfavorable—encourages a politics centered on individuals rather than institutions.
He has stated that the Congress currently needs a resolve for unity rather than a debate on division, and leadership for transformation rather than the politics of mistrust. He has urged leaders, cadres, and well-wishers to rise above personal considerations and stand firmly in support of the organization, its principles, and a shared future.
