Bhotekoshi floods: Five more mortal remains managed in Pokhara
KASKI:- Five more mortal remains of those perished in the recent floods in the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli river systems were buried in Pokhara on Friday.
The unidentified bodies of two females, two males and one child were interred in a forest area of Pokhara Submetropolis-16, according to the District Police Office, Kaski.
Of 102 bodies brought to the Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences and the Manipal Teaching Hospital for post-mortem examinations and identification, 76 were earlier buried at the same area, while 21 were handed over to the relatives after identification.
DPO Police Inspector Nabin Karki said the DNA samples were collected and preserved before the bodies were inhumed. DNA samples have been preserved for future evidence of identification in case relatives make claims. So far, 25 DNA samples have been collected in Pokhara.
Pokhara had received 41 bodies from Nawalpur, 27 from Dhading, 23 from Tanahu and 11 from Gorkha following the floods. They were retrieved from the banks of Trishuli and Narayani rivers.
