Elections will be held on time, assures Prime Minister Karki

KATHMANDU:- Prime Minister Sushila Karki has called on all political parties to participate in the election process leading up to the March 5 elections to the House of Representatives.

In a meeting held at Singha Durbar today between the Election Commission, political parties, Gen-Z representatives and stakeholders, she made it clear that if all parties come together no negative element will be able to incite violence in the country. “Many are concerned about the security arrangements regarding the elections. The government is working to create a complete secure environment. If all political parties move forward together, none can disturb law and order.”

She also urged the parties that are not participating in the elections to come to the election process for peace and democracy. Stating that if all 114 political parties of the country unite, there will be no possibility of unrest in the country, Prime Minister Karki called on the parties, Gen-Z representatives, civil society, media and civil servants to join hands to maintain peace in the country.

“Let’s not vent anger over everything to push the country towards a difficult situation,” she said. “Let us participate in the election by utilizing the time we have.”

Prime Minister Karki said that the incidents of September 8 and 9 occurred due to past mistakes and errors, and the government was facing emotions and criticism originating from it. Stating that those incidents have had a deep impact on the people, she pointed out the need for the government and political parties to seriously think about the message they are giving to the people and the purpose of change.

“Understanding the change sought by the young generation is the main priority at the moment. The people want change, so everyone, including political parties, must correct themselves,” Prime Minister Karki emphasized, adding, “We have become the object of criticism, but we are ready to bear and suffer for the country. We all have to give up our own interests in order to maintain peace and stability in the country, and that is in the interest of the country and all of us.”
