No vested interests in the party and cannot perform miracles, Thapa says
SYANGJA:-Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa has stated that he has come into a leadership role to work.
Speaking on Monday at a welcome and party worker interaction program held at the district party office in Putalibazar Municipality-1, General Secretary Thapa remarked that he has no personal agenda within the party and that he cannot perform miracles.
Noting that the Nepali Congress encompasses four generations, Thapa stated that the responsibility of bringing together leaders and cadres—ranging from those 30 years his senior to those 30 years his junior—has fallen upon his shoulders. Speaking publicly for the first time since his election as President, Thapa observed that many positions within the party—even at the core of its internal competition—have remained without leadership; he pledged to unite the party by assigning responsibilities to everyone.
Thapa stated that defeat in an internal contest does not preclude one from assuming a leadership role, adding that those who demonstrate a commitment to work will be entrusted with responsibilities. Noting that the party did not merely lose votes but rather lost public trust in the last election, Chairman Thapa emphasized that if that trust is restored, the votes will follow naturally.
He announced plans to foster an environment conducive to elections during the months of Poush and Magh, and affirmed that the distribution of election tickets would be conducted in accordance with the party statute. He further expressed his intention to bring back those who have drifted away from the party and to ensure that the party emerges as the leading force in the local and provincial elections.
