Australia launched National Innovation Visa to attract highly skilled talent

SYDNEY:- Moving away from traditional investment-based pathways, Australia has revamped its immigration policy to attract highly skilled talent through a new ‘Innovation Visa.’

Previously, Australia’s immigration system linked investment-based migration primarily to financial capital; under this framework, investors seeking residency were generally required to invest substantial sums in sectors such as real estate, businesses, or government-approved investment schemes.

After Australia discontinued its ‘Business Innovation and Investment Program’ in 2024, the government launched the ‘National Innovation Visa’ (NIV) to attract entrepreneurs, founders, investors, researchers, and individuals who have achieved significant success on an international level.
