Journalist Bhagirath Yogi honored with ‘Diaspora Journalism Award’

LONDON:- Bhagirath Yogi, a journalist with the BBC Nepali Service, has been honored with the Diaspora Journalism Award.

He received the award on Friday at the third ‘Kitab Jatra’ event, organized by the Kitab Yatra Foundation and held at the Nepali Embassy in London.

Individuals who have made outstanding contributions in various fields were honored at the event.

Businessman and social worker Rabindra Jung Lamichhane was awarded the ‘Kitab Jatra Diaspora Social Initiative Honor’; former NRNA President Kul Acharya received the ‘Diaspora Entrepreneurship Honor’; Lex Limbu was presented with the ‘Youth Icon Honor’; and UK-based poet and novelist Dr. Sangita Shrestha ‘Swechchha’ was honored with the ‘Diaspora Literature Honor’.

An interactive session on the topic ‘Nepali Diaspora Literature: Opportunities and Challenges’ was held during the program. Facilitated by journalist and writer Nirbhikjung Rayamajhi, the session featured Tikaram Yatri, Dr. Sangita Shrestha ‘Swechchha’, and Dr. Rabindra Samir as panelists sharing their views.

At the event, Sushil Prajapati, President of Pasa Puchah Guthi UK, recited poems by the renowned poet Durga Lal Shrestha as well as his own. Rashmita Singh Darlami, President of the Nepalese Nursing Association UK, recited the poem “I Am a Nurse,” while Festival Director Rishi Ram Adhikari recited a poem titled “Ba” (Father).

Artist Deepak Thapa performed Gopal Yonjan’s famous patriotic song, “Deshle Ragat Mage.”

The event was attended by former British Members of Parliament, diplomats, literary figures, journalists, and various personalities from the Nepali community.
