‘Gaunthali’ grossed Rs 12.7 million nationwide by Saturday afternoon

KATHMANDU:- The film ‘Gaunthali’, currently in theatres, grossed over NPR 10 million in a single day this Saturday. Producer Suman Giri reported that, according to the box office app, the film had already grossed NPR 12.7 million by 2 PM.

High Saturday occupancy was observed in cinema halls across the region stretching from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj—areas where the Kapil Rijal-directed film is screening. Such a high level of audience turnout has been witnessed after a long time.

According to producer Giri, the total single-day gross earnings for today, Saturday, are estimated to reach 15 million rupees by midnight. He projected that the total collection over the nine days of screening would reach 65 million rupees.

Producer Giri is optimistic that the film will cross the 10-crore mark in the near future if the positive word-of-mouth momentum continues.

Since Sunday is also a public holiday, it is projected that *Gaunthali*’s earnings could see an increase. However, the Film Development Board is expected to release the official figures and details after the weekend.

This social drama was released on Friday in the United States, a major market for the diaspora. While the film has been released across 26 states there, the opening collection figures are yet to be reported.
