Five Americans, three Brazilians and two Canadians arrested in Morang to be deported
KATHMANDU:- Ten foreign nationals from three different countries have been arrested in Morang on charges of participating in a health camp without authorization after entering Nepal on tourist visas. Previously, 24 Korean nationals were deported after participating in religious propagation training in Sundarharaicha.
This afternoon, police took five American, three Brazilian, and two Canadian citizens into custody from Kanepokhari Rural Municipality-6. Saroj Koirala, the Assistant Chief District Officer of Morang, stated that preparations are underway to bring them to Kathmandu tomorrow and send them back to their respective countries.
They were involved in a health camp—providing treatment for eyes, teeth, and other conditions—conducted under the banner of the ‘Murphy Welfare Society’ in Kanepokhari-6. They are now set to be deported after it was discovered that they had engaged in activities other than those permitted under their visit visas.
According to the police, the group consists of five individuals: two doctors and an engineer from Brazil; a student and a homemaker from Canada; and a doctor and a teacher from the United States. An eight-year-old girl is also part of the American group.
