KATHMANDU:- Nepal’s iconic folk-rock band Nepathya wrapped up its Japan tour on Monday with a powerful final performance in Osaka. They are expected to stay in Japan for a time, as the management has requested an autographed message to be enshrined on its prestigious Wall of Fame.
According to Kiran Krishna Shrestha of Nepalaya, which manages the band, major venues around the world honour outstanding performers by displaying their framed signatures. “If performing at London’s Wembley Arena 13 years ago was a benchmark for Nepathya, this recognition from one of Japan’s most prominent venues sets another important standard,” he said.
Venue manager Endo Naoshi said that Nepathya’s concert was an incredible experience. While the hall has hosted many Nepali events in the past, he said the massive turnout, the enthusiasm of the audience, and the heartfelt unity as everyone sang along left a deep impression.
Like their shows in Nagoya and Tokyo earlier this month, the Osaka event drew overwhelming crowds. Nepathya opened with its popular number ‘Ho Rama’.
Throughout the show, frontman Amrit Gurung shared personal reflections, urging the audience to preserve Nepali language and culture, explore the country’s mountains when visiting home, and continue Nepal’s philanthropic traditions. Before performing ‘Yo Jindagani’, he appealed to Nepalis abroad to support children in Nepal who lack access to education.
The two-hour concert reached fever pitch with favourites like ‘Gaun Bata Utha’, ‘Resham’, and ‘Talko Pani’. Japanese audience members were also equally captivated. Shigeki Okuyama said he was struck by the interactive atmosphere and the seamless blend of traditional and modern instruments.
