Four-hour meeting between Prime Minister Shah and President Lamichhane

KATHMANDU:- A four-hour-long meeting took place at the residence of Rabi Lamichhane—Chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP)—in Budhanilkantha, between him and Prime Minister Balen Shah. Lamichhane had recently returned from a religious visit to the friendly nation of India.

Kumar Ben, the Prime Minister’s Chief Advisor, was also present during the meeting, which took place on Wednesday morning. It is reported that the discussion covered several significant issues, including the appointment of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) for the Nepal Police, an ordinance concerning civil servants, and the appointment of officials to various universities.

No official information has been released by either side regarding the topics discussed during the meeting.

According to one source, the discussion covered the perceived lack of effectiveness of certain ministers, as well as delays in making political appointments. However, another source claims that Chairman Rabi Lamichhane initiated the meeting as a strategic move to exert pressure, in preparation for his own imminent assumption of leadership in the government.
