Hari Gurung elected President of Rocky Mountain Friends of Nepal
COLORADO:- Hari Gurung has been unanimously elected as President of Rocky Mountain Friends of Nepal.
During a program held on Sunday from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Nepali cultural center ‘Nepali Ghar,’ Vice President Hari Gurung—who had been serving as acting president following the resignation of President Akriti Rai—was entrusted with the presidency for the remainder of the term, in accordance with the organization’s bylaws.
At the general assembly, outgoing President Arjun Bagale delivered a welcome address to all the guests and the chief guest present. Similarly, the organization’s Acting President and event chair, Hari Gurung, presented the organization’s progress report and future action plan to the assembly, while Treasurer Sunita Adhikari presented the statement of income and expenditure. The members present unanimously approved both reports.
At the event held under the chief guestship of social worker and ‘Helping Hand’ President Narayan Shrestha—and with the special presence of former professor and social worker Dr. Bijayraj Sharma and the organization’s Ombudsman Committee Coordinator Rohini Sharma—the chief guest and special guests honored the organization’s President, Gurung, by draping a *khada* (ceremonial scarf) around his neck.
At the same event, Ganga Chaulagai—the newly and unanimously elected President of Nepali Ghar—was honored by the Rocky Mountain Friends of Nepal with a bouquet and a traditional ceremonial scarf (*khada*), along with best wishes for a successful tenure. Attendees expressed their delight with applause as the presidents of these two key Nepali-speaking community organizations exchanged greetings and best wishes.
The event was attended by representatives of organizations active in Colorado, intellectuals, social workers, advisors, office bearers, dignitaries, journalists, and members of the organization.
