Nepal’s excellent performance at WTT at Fashion Island

KATHMANDU:- Competing in the U-13 Girls’ Singles event at the WTT Youth Contender Bangkok—organized by the Thailand Table Tennis Association and held at Fashion Island in Bangkok from September 9 to 12, 2026—Nepal’s Prajna Maharjan has advanced to the knockout stage after defeating Sri Lanka’s Chenuli Kasunya in straight sets (3–0).

Prajna won the match 11–7, 13–11, and 11–8. She will compete against Chen Pin-han of Chinese Taipei in the knockout stage.
Earlier today, in another match of the U-13 girls’ singles league stage, Prajna was defeated by Japan’s Nonoka Suzuki with scores of 6–11, 6–11, and 1–11.

Similarly, another player from Nepal, Aabha Pradhan, suffered 0–3 set defeats against players from the Philippines and Thailand in the U-13 girls’ singles event.

In the U-17 boys’ singles, Nepal’s Sugam Paudel lost 0–3 in sets to an Indian player.

Another Nepali player, Nirav Maharjan, also suffered a 0–3 set defeat against an opponent from Uzbekistan in the U-17 boys’ singles.
