President to parties: Focus on election to safeguard constitution

KATHMANDU:- President Ramchandra Paudel has urged the political parties to focus on election as election is the only option to safeguard the nation, democracy and constitution.

The President made the appeal at an all-party meeting along with the government called by him at his office in Shital Niwas.

The election to the House of Representatives (HoR) has been scheduled for March 5, 2026.

President Paudel suggested the government to arrange for necessary peace and security for a fair and fearless environment for election, informed Kiran Pokharel, press advisor to President Paudel.

The Head of the State urged the parties not to create any confusion about election but reach out to the people with commitment that the parties will address the demands of the Gen Z.

Leaders of the political parties participating in the meeting responded that they were ready to face election but expressed doubt that the present security arrangement was enough for a fair and independent election.
