‘Government becoming irresponsible due to its majority’

KATHMANDU:- The Nepali Congress has concluded that the government is becoming irresponsible due to its majority.

The meeting of the Nepali Congress parliamentary party held at Singha Durbar today concluded that Prime Minister Balendra Shah has not shown any sense of responsibility and accountability towards the people by not coming to Parliament.

Speaking to media persons after the parliamentary party meeting, Congress Parliamentary Party Chief Whip Basana Thapa said that the Congress has drawn serious attention to the issue of Prime Minister Shah not coming to Parliament and not addressing the Republic Day celebrations.

He said that the National Human Rights Commission’s report on the Genji movement should be implemented as soon as possible, adding that no one is above the law and that the Congress will accept the process that is in accordance with the law.

Chief Whip Thapa said that they are of the opinion that the budget should prioritize education and health over infrastructure.

Chief Whip Thapa informed that the meeting discussed issues including the budget for the upcoming fiscal year, the party’s role in parliament, future strategy, filling vacant positions in the parliamentary party, and appointing coordinators to study on behalf of the party in thematic committees of parliament.
