Medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai released from custody

KATHMANDU:- The Bhaktapur District Court has issued an order denying the request to extend the remand of medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai.

The bench of Judge Navaraj Dahal issued the order rejecting the extension of Prasai’s detention. Following the court’s decision not to extend the remand, Prasai has been released from custody.

The order states, “As the prosecution has failed to present concrete grounds indicating that the defendants might destroy evidence or abscond if not kept in custody for the investigation, no basis has been found to extend the remand for continued detention.”

Medical entrepreneur Prasai was produced before the court through the Office of the Public Prosecutor to seek an extension of his remand on three charges: cybercrime, and offenses against the state—specifically those involving public morality, decorum, and public peace. The police had arrested Prasai on Sunday night in connection with these allegations.
