NSJF Pulsar Sports Award on September 3; agreement with Golchha Group renewed

KATHMANDU:- The date for the ‘NSJF Pulsar Sports Award 2082,’ organized annually by the Nepal Sports Journalists Forum (NSJF), has been announced. During a program held in Kathmandu on Wednesday, the Forum announced that the 23rd edition of the awards would take place on September 3 at ‘The Blue Pavilion’ of the Nepal Police Club.

The organizing committee has also signed an agreement with the main sponsor, Golchha Group, for the awards. This marks the 19th consecutive time Golchha Group has been associated with the awards. A five-year agreement was signed between the two parties last year, and it is currently in its second year.

The agreement was signed by Niranjan Adhikari, President of the Forum, and Abhimanyu Golchha, Director of the Golchha Group. Following the signing, Director Golchha expressed his happiness at the continued association with the awards and highlighted their ongoing commitment to elevating the standard of Nepali sports. “We take pride in having been associated with the Forum for 19 consecutive years. We have been moving forward together in the realm of sports. Best wishes to the Forum for its success.”

Anjan Khadka, General Secretary of the Forum, has announced that awards will be presented in nine categories at the Pulsar Sports Award 2082. These categories include Male Player of the Year, Female Player of the Year, Youth Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, People’s Choice Award, Para-Athlete Honor, Special Award, Lifetime Achievement Award, and Asian Sports Journalist Award.

General Secretary Khadka announced that the nominations for the Male, Female, and Youth Athlete of the Year, Coach of the Year, and People’s Choice Award categories would be made public within a few days. The forum’s athlete selection committee has already begun preparations for this process; the provision entails shortlisting five nominees for each category.

Winners in the Lifetime Achievement, Special, Para-Athlete, and Asian Sports Journalist Award categories will be announced on the day of the awards ceremony itself. General Secretary Khadka noted that the nominations for the People’s Choice Award would be released soon, as the winner is determined through public voting.

Winners in the Male Athlete, Female Athlete, People’s Choice, Coach, and Youth categories will be awarded a Pulsar motorcycle. Winners and honorees in other categories will receive a cash prize of Rs 100,000 each. Meanwhile, a main organizing committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Niranjan Adhikari—president of the forum—to ensure the success of the Pulsar Sports Award 2082. Additionally, various sub-committees have been constituted for the awards event.

Last year, the awards were won by cricketer Dipendra Singh Airee (men’s category), karateka Erika Gurung (women’s category), cricketer Puja Mahato (youth category), and Para-Taekwondo coach Kaviraj Negi Lama (coach category). Volleyball player Himal Sunari won the People’s Choice Award by securing the highest number of votes.

Tulsi Kumar Gurung (Taekwondo) was honored with the Special Award, Prabha Angdembe (Athletics) with the Para-Athlete Honor, Rana Hasan (a journalist from Bangladesh) with the Asian Sports Journalist Award, and Khadga Ranabhat with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
