Nepal can create an additional 3 million new jobs through wellness tourism: Bhanu Sharma
"We must invite the global community not merely to see Nepal, but to experience it," he said. "It is essential for us all to collaborate in sharing Nepal’s nature, wisdom, healing traditions, and lifestyle with the world."
LONDON:- It is stated that Nepal could generate an additional 3 million new jobs through wellness tourism over the next decade.
Bhanu Sharma, co-founder of Jeevan Vigyan and a life development expert, stated that Nepal can offer the world not only its mountains and natural beauty but also its unique spiritual wisdom and philosophy of life.
Addressing an interactive session held at the Nepali Embassy in London on Thursday, Guru Sharma stated that wellness tourism could increase the per capita income of Nepalis by up to fivefold.
Addressing the event, Bhanu Sharma noted that the United Nations—acting on a proposal from Nepal and other nations—has begun observing April 15 as World Wellness Day, and emphasized that Nepal should take the lead in this initiative.
He expressed the view that practices rooted in Nepal’s Himalayan traditions—such as yoga, meditation, spirituality, mindfulness, natural health systems, and conscious living—could be developed as a foundation for global wellness.
“We must invite the global community not merely to see Nepal, but to experience it,” he said. “It is essential for us all to collaborate in sharing Nepal’s nature, wisdom, healing traditions, and lifestyle with the world.”
Putting forward the concept of “Himalayan Wisdom, Global Well-being,” he noted that Nepal’s wellness traditions are not just our cultural heritage but an invaluable gift that can be offered to the world.
During the program, participants also engaged in a ‘self-awakening meditation’ practice. Following the brief meditation session, many participants shared their experiences of feeling mental peace, awareness of the present moment, and positive energy. According to the organizers, this conveyed the message that meditation is not merely a theoretical concept but a practice that can be directly experienced.
At the event, Bipin Duwadi, Nepal’s Chargé d’Affaires to the UK, expressed his gratitude to Guru Sharma and stated that the Government of Nepal has prioritized the promotion of wellness tourism. He expressed his belief that such programs would make a significant contribution to promoting Nepal’s spiritual, cultural, and natural heritage on the international stage.
An interactive discussion took place among the participants regarding the relationship between self-awareness, mental and physical health, inner transformation, and prosperity. Participants noted that the program highlighted new possibilities for wellness tourism by connecting Nepal’s traditions of yoga, meditation, spirituality, and natural health with the global community.
