Bilateral security meeting dwells on curbing border crimes
KATHMANDU:- Security officials from four districts of Madhes Province of Nepal and those from adjoining districts of India held a meeting to curb border crimes.
They decided to enhance joint border patrol and regular exchange of information on cross-border crimes.
An assistant chief district officer of Mahottari, Sanjay Kumar Pokharel, informed RSS that during a coordination meeting of Nepal-India Security Officers held in Jaleshwar on Saturday, the two-country officials discussed the strategies they could adopt for controlling border crimes, including arms and drug trafficking, human trafficking and safety and maintenance of border posts.
Pokharel further said they decided to broaden the scope of joint patrols. They emphasized the importance of mutual coordination and cooperation.
Chief district officer of Mahottari, Indra Dev Yadav; chief district officer of Sarlahi, Bijayraj Subedi; and chief district officer of Rautahat, Dinesh Sagar attended the discussion from Nepali side.
District magistrate of Sitamadhi, Tanay Sultania, superintendent of police of Sitamadhi, Amit Ranjan, along with various security officers participated from the Indian sides.(RSS)
