Deuba signals willingness to hold dialogue with Gagan Thapa for unity within the Congress

KATHMANDU:- Former Nepali Congress  President Sher Bahadur Deuba has stated that he will hold discussions with General Secretary Gagan Thapa to bridge the divide within the party and foster an environment of unity.

Karna Malla, the former Nepali Congress President of Dadeldhura, shared that Deuba expressed this view during a meeting at his residence on Sunday morning. Malla said he had gone to meet Deuba to inquire about his health following his return to the country after medical treatment.

During the meeting, Malla proposed that it would be appropriate for Deuba to play a guardian-like role as the Congress party moves toward its upcoming 15th General Convention. Malla stated that Deuba appeared receptive to this proposal.

According to Malla, Deuba assured him that he would hold discussions with President Thapa to maintain unity within the party. It is reported that the meeting focused on the need to guide the party toward the General Convention while fostering mutual understanding among the leadership.

Malla, who served two terms as the District President in Dadeldhura, had recently maintained a political distance from Deuba. However, their latest meeting is being viewed as a sign that dialogue between them has resumed.

This meeting between Deuba and Malla—along with Deuba’s stated intention to speak with President Thapa—has come to light amidst ongoing debates within the Congress party regarding the upcoming general convention, leadership management, and internal unity.
