Nepal, Oman private sectors agreed to expand bilateral trade
KATHMANDU: An agreement has been reached between the Federation of Export Entrepreneurs and the Non-Resident Nepali Social Club in Oman with the aim of expanding Nepali products and services to the Gulf nation.
Federation President Govinda Prasad Ghimire and Club President Suresh Khadka signed the memorandum of understanding during a program held on Friday in the presence of Bishesh Kumar Sah, the Chargé d’Affaires at the Nepali Embassy in Muscat.
According to the Federation, both organizations will act as institutional intermediaries to connect Nepali exporters with local small and medium-sized enterprises, traders, and potential buyers in Oman. This initiative will expand markets and business networks for Nepali products.
The agreement prioritizes the promotion of ‘Made in Nepal’ products and stipulates that arrangements will be made for stalls and exhibitions to showcase Nepali goods—such as tea, coffee, cardamom, various spices, handicrafts, felt products, garments, carpets, herbal items, and traditional attire—at cultural and community events held in Oman.
The Club will inform the Federation about Oman’s customs procedures, import standards, quality and Halal certification, and trade policies, and will provide coordination as necessary.
