Religious tolerance and social harmony are our long-standing assets : Congress President Thapa

KATHMANDU:- Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa has stated that the government must play a leading role in maintaining peace, law and order, and harmony in the country.

Speaking to the media after attending an all-party meeting convened today by Rastriya Swatantra Party Chairman Rabi Lamichhane to discuss issues including the Sunsari incident, he stated that he had emphasized during the meeting that the Prime Minister ought to play a leadership and guardian-like role at a time when an uneasy situation has arisen in the country.

“Religious tolerance and social harmony are our long-standing assets; we must preserve them. We have proposed a call for citizens to unite in maintaining peace and harmony,” said Chairman Thapa. “We have urged everyone to exercise caution to prevent untoward incidents. The government also acts as a guardian of the people. At a time like this, the Prime Minister should engage in dialogue with all three tiers of government and work towards maintaining peace and harmony.”
