Famous volleyball player Bhandari appointed Annapurna Spiker Kings brand ambassador
KATHMANDU:- Annapurna Spiker Kings, a franchise team in the Nepal Volleyball League (NVL), has appointed Usha Bhandari—a prominent player and key member of the Nepali national women’s volleyball team—as its brand ambassador.
A three-year agreement has been signed between Annapurna Spikers—owned by Sumira Sports Venture—and star outside hitter Usha. Under the agreement, Usha will assist with the team’s promotional activities and publicity, and will also play a significant role alongside Annapurna Spikers in developing Nepali volleyball right from the grassroots level.
Subodh Tripathi, owner of Annapurna Spikers, stated that the collaboration with Usha would contribute to the development of the men’s volleyball franchise league; he noted that since volleyball is the national sport, their aim was to make a meaningful contribution to the league.
Usha expressed her happiness at becoming a brand ambassador for a volleyball league—a first for a volleyball player.
“Initially, I was involved in other sports like football and cricket. Since I was born in Gandaki and received an early offer from the Gandaki-based team ‘Annapurna Spikers,’ I decided to accept it.”
The collaboration between Annapurna Spikers—representing the Gandaki region in the Nepal Volleyball League—and Usha, a native of Tanahun (Gandaki Province), is considered both special and significant. The club believes that this partnership—linking the team with Usha, a daughter of the region where volleyball enjoys a strong following—will greatly aid in expanding the club’s brand and connecting the player with the grassroots level.
Usha, who plays for the Nepal Police Club in domestic volleyball, has also played professionally for various clubs in the Maldives, where she enjoys a large fan base. Having made her debut at the 13th South Asian Games (SAG) in 2019 at the age of just 14, she has consistently delivered outstanding performances on both national and international stages.
The club believes that this partnership between Annapurna Spikers and Usha for the inaugural Nepal Volleyball League—featuring six teams and organized by the Kedia Group—will contribute to the overall development of Nepali volleyball and the grooming of new players.
