Sita Tamang wins double gold in MBC Cup International Taekwondo

KATHMANDU:- Nepal’s Sita Tamang won double gold medals at the 11th MBC Cup International Taekwondo Championship held in South Korea.

Athletes from a total of 21 nations participated in the competition. Three athletes, including Sita, represented Nepal. Sita competed in the Women’s Individual Poomsae and Pair Poomsae events.

Sita won the gold medal in the women’s individual Poomsae final by defeating a Russian competitor. Similarly, the country secured another gold in the pair Poomsae event after the duo of Sita and Prem Limbu defeated athletes from the Philippines.

Just three weeks ago, Sita had also won a silver medal at the 7th Kim Un Yong Cup (G-1) International Taekwondo Championship, held in South Korea. At that time, Nepal had secured a total of three medals—one silver and two bronze.

For a single athlete to win gold medals in two different categories at an international-level competition is a significant achievement for Nepali Taekwondo.
