US Senators Todd Yong and Jason Smith’s team hold high-level meetings in Nepal

KATHMANDU:- A 21-member political delegation, led by U.S. Senator Todd Young, has visited Nepal, where they observed various sectors and held high-level meetings.

The delegation consists of two groups: a 16-member team that arrived in Nepal via Bhutan, led by Jason Smith, Chairman of the U.S. House Committee on Ways and Means; and a 5-member team that arrived via Bangkok, led by Senator Todd Young.

During their visit, they held various high-level meetings. Having arrived in Kathmandu on October 23 (Kartik 6) via Bangkok on a Thai Airways flight, they met with embassy staff and Nepali officials.

In the meetings held by the delegation—which included Senator Young, who represents the state of Indiana on behalf of the Republican Party—priority was given to cooperation between Nepal and the United States in controlling transnational criminal networks.

According to the U.S. Embassy in Nepal, Senator Young’s visit underscores a commitment to controlling cross-border criminal activities, safeguarding legitimate commercial transactions, and strengthening the security and economic prosperity of both nations.

The Embassy stated that discussions held during the visit focused on further strengthening cooperation between Nepal and the United States in controlling cross-border crime and combating criminal networks.

The delegation also visited Chitwan National Park yesterday. The group includes Members of Congress Jason Thomas Smith, David Sheridan Schweikert, Elise Marie Stefanik, William Andrew Ogles IV, and Laura Cyril Friedman, along with other staff members and family members.
