Laotian immigrant Tau Lui Vang, convicted of rape, deported

Assistant Secretary Lauren Viss stated, "ICE has deported immigrant Tou Vang, who was convicted of child rape."

WASHINGTON:- US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has deported Tau Lui Vang, a Laotian immigrant convicted of rape.

ICE had first arrested and detained Vang in December 2025. In February 2026, a judge in the District of Minnesota ordered his release from ICE custody. In June 2026, the Minnesota Clemency Review Commission decided to grant Vang clemency.

An immigration judge from the Department of Justice found Lao immigrant Tou Luy Vang guilty of criminal sexual conduct involving a young girl.

Following Vang’s conviction, the immigration judge issued a final order for his deportation on October 31, 2006.

Assistant Secretary Lauren Viss stated, “ICE has deported immigrant Tou Vang, who was convicted of child rape.”

Vang entered the United States from California in 1994, and the Clinton administration granted him legal status. His legal status was revoked following his conviction and a final order of deportation in 2006.
