Land administration services in all local levels within a month

KATHMANDU:- The Government of Nepal has decided to mandate the commencement of land administration services in all remaining local levels within the next month, with the objective of providing these services directly to citizens at their doorsteps.

Prime Minister Balendra Shah, sharing the information via social media, stated that this step has been taken to bridge the gap between the state and its citizens—in line with the core spirit of the “Singha Durbar in every village” (bringing the central government to the local level) initiative.

Prime Minister Shah has stated that the full implementation of land administration services at the local level is a key component of the government’s 100-point agenda for governance reform.

The process of devolving land administration has been initiated in accordance with the Constitution of Nepal, the Local Government Operation Act (2074 BS), and the Ordinance on Amending Certain Nepal Acts Related to Land (2083 BS). To date, these services are being successfully delivered through 33 local government units across the country.

Prime Minister Shah has stated that the Government of Nepal is committed to providing all necessary technical and managerial support to extend services to the remaining local levels.

This decision will make the services of land administration and survey offices simpler, more convenient, and more accessible. Furthermore, the government anticipates that legal provisions which concentrate authority at the central level will be gradually relaxed, enabling local levels to fully exercise their constitutional and legal powers.
