Embassy urges Nepalis in Malaysia to keep their passports with them

KUALA LUMPUR:- The Embassy of Nepal in Malaysia has strongly urged all Nepali citizens residing in the country for employment purposes to always keep their passports with them.

In a statement issued today, the Embassy requested them to reside safely while complying with Malaysian laws and regulations and to always carry their passports when traveling.

The statement also urges all Malaysian employers hiring Nepali workers to ensure arrangements that allow the workers to keep their passports in their own possession. The Embassy has cautioned employers against retaining control over Nepali workers’ passports unless permitted by law or with the worker’s explicit consent.

Nepali citizens are also requested to immediately contact the Embassy if their passports have been forcibly retained by an employer or any other party without their consent.
