Highways across the country blocked due to incessant rain, landslides, and floods
As there is a high risk of landslides, floods, and road washouts during the monsoon season, the police have urged everyone to check the condition of the roads with the relevant authorities and exercise necessary caution before traveling.
KATHMANDU:- Continuous rainfall, landslides, and floods have disrupted vehicular movement on major highways and road sections across various districts of the country.
Releasing a report covering the situation up to 7:50 AM today, the Nepal Police stated that some roads are completely blocked, while restrictions on vehicular movement have been imposed on others during the night.
Due to the risk of potential flooding, the operation of all types of vehicles has been prohibited from 6:00 PM to 4:00 AM on the Khurkot-Nepalthok-Katunjebesi section of the BP Highway, which connects Kavrepalanchok and Sindhuli.
Similarly, the operation of all types of vehicles has also been banned on the Kanti Lokpath from 5:00 PM to 5:00 AM.
Vehicular movement has come to a complete halt on the Mechi Highway in Ilam Municipality-9 after the road turned muddy due to rainfall.
The Arniko Highway is completely blocked following landslides in the Zero Kilo and Kodari areas of Bhote-Koshi Rural Municipality, Sindhupalchok.
The Lamosanghu-Ramechhap road section in Kirnetar, Tamakoshi Rural Municipality-5, Dolakha, is also obstructed after the flow of the Tamakoshi River caused soil erosion, washing away part of the road.
The Pasang Lhamu road section at Khalte in Uttargaya Rural Municipality-5, Rasuwa, is completely blocked due to erosion caused by the Trishuli River.
The Kanti Lokpath road in Bagmati Rural Municipality-3, Lalitpur, is also completely closed following a dry landslide.
Vehicular movement along the Jajarkot-Dolpa road has been completely halted after the Mulpani Khola (stream) eroded the roadway.
