Situation in the Sarlahi district headquarters normal; market resumed
SARLAHI:- The situation in Malangwa, the district headquarters of Sarlahi, has returned to normal. Although a tense situation prevailed for a brief period on Friday morning, conditions normalized by the afternoon.
Shops and businesses in Malangwa, which had remained closed throughout the morning due to protests involving the burning of tires, have gradually begun to open. With the market reopening, people have stepped out to purchase essential items. People are moving freely—using motorcycles and other private vehicles—as far as the Mahendra Highway.
Although bus services to and from Malangwa are not operating, smaller vehicles—such as cars, motorcycles, and tempos—arriving from Kathmandu are moving without hindrance. The situation in the Malangwa market area has returned to normal, as no protesters have been seen.
Sarlahi’s Chief District Officer, Bijayraj Subedi, has stated that the situation across the district, including Malangwa, is normal. While the Barahathwa and Bayalbas markets remain closed, markets in other parts of the district—such as Lalbandi, Hariwan, Nayaroad, and Haripur—are operating without interruption.
Preparations are underway to hold harmony rallies on Saturday morning at Harivan and Lalbandi along the Mahendra Highway, with the aim of maintaining social harmony.
