NRNA establishes Rs 10 million fund for relief of Nepalis in the Middle East

KATHMANDU:- The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) has established a fund of Rs 10 million for the relief of Nepali citizens in the Middle East.

The meeting of the new working committee formed by the 12th general convention of the association held on Wednesday decided to establish the fund and implement it immediately, said Chairman Dr. Hemraj Sharma.

The meeting has decided to collect a minimum of Rs 10 million from the office bearers and members of the association and spend it through a special task force for the relief of Nepalis in the Middle East.

The association currently has about 130,000 members and plans have been made to collect at least $1 from each member. The goal is to raise this fund to Rs. 60 million during the term.

Similarly, the NRNA officials have pledged not to join any political party or fraternal organization.

It is said that a commitment letter has been signed stating that political comments, abuse or personal character assassination will not be made through social media. Preparations have also been made for the resignation of office bearers affiliated with political parties.

The meeting has also made other administrative decisions including secretariat management. It is said that the meeting of the newly formed working committee will continue till Friday.
