Boston ‘Shrimad Bhagavat Saptaha Gyan Mahayagya’ concludes; approximately $1 million raised

BOSTON:- It has been reported that approximately one million US dollars was raised during the ‘Shrimad Bhagwat Saptaha Gyan Mahayagya’ (Boston Saptaha) held in Boston.

The week-long religious event, which began on Sunday, August 16, under the slogan “Let us all join together; let no one be left behind,” concluded on Sunday night. Renowned narrator Pandit Deenbandhu Pokharel served as the principal storyteller for the event.

The organizing body announced that the week-long ‘Gyan Mahayagya’ (grand spiritual discourse), organized by the Pashupatinath Buddha Foundation of New England (PAVFONE), concluded on Sunday night. The event ended with singing, dancing, devotional music (*bhajan-kirtan*), and the lighting of a hundred thousand lamps (*lakh-batti*) following the final storytelling session.

The organizing committee of the ‘Saptaha Gyan Mahayagya-2026’ stated that the event concluded with historic grandeur.

A ‘Boston Saptaha’ (a week-long religious discourse) had previously been organized in 2017. Funds raised during that event were used to purchase a church in Braintree—located about half an hour from the city of Boston—and convert it into a temple. The temple complex includes idols of Pashupatinath and a stupa featuring an image of Buddha. Pandit Pokharel served as the lead narrator on that occasion as well, and approximately $1.5 million was raised.

It has been announced that the funds pledged by donors on this occasion will be used to pay off the temple’s outstanding debt.

Furthermore, it has expressed heartfelt appreciation to all the devotees who traveled from various states, regions, and abroad to participate in the event.

Pyavphone has stated that the success of the *Mahayajna* has helped further strengthen religious faith, cultural identity, and community unity.

Pyavphone President Dhurba Ghimire has urged donors to join this noble cause, noting that while the *Gyan Mahayajna* has concluded, the campaign for donations and support remains ongoing.

Similarly, Sushil Paudel, Chairperson of the Pyavphone Board of Trustees, expressed his happiness over the successful conclusion of the week-long event, noting that it strengthened the spirit of unity among various segments of the Nepali community. He remarked that the participation of people from all walks of life and age groups contributed significantly to making the event even more grand.

Milan Kumar Karki, Chairperson of the Mahayagya Main Organizing Committee, has expressed his happiness that the Mahayagya concluded with grandeur, true to its objectives, and has thanked everyone who provided support and cooperation for the event.
