KATHMANDU:- The Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation and the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration have directed that buildings and structures belonging to civil service trade unions and organizations—which were constructed on government land and are currently in use—be vacated within three days.
According to the Ministry, following the Government of Nepal’s decision to abolish provisions regarding civil service trade unions, the legal basis for buildings and other structures—constructed on government-owned land by certain organizations that previously operated as national-level trade unions—has ceased to exist. Concurrently, the registration of the concerned trade unions has been revoked pursuant to a Cabinet decision and an order from the Department of Labor and Occupational Safety.
According to the notice issued by the Ministry, the concerned organizations must completely vacate the buildings and other structures within three days of the notice’s publication and hand over documents, responsibility for assets, and the building keys to the Ministry’s Internal Management Division.
The Ministry has also warned that if the structures are not vacated within the stipulated timeframe, necessary proceedings will be initiated in accordance with prevailing laws. Furthermore, the Ministry stated that notices have been affixed to the buildings of the said organizations in the presence of the District Administration Office.
The notice states that the premises currently occupied by organizations—including the Independent Civil Servants Organization, Nepal Madhesi Civil Servants Forum, Nepal Civil Servants Organization, Nepal Civil Servants Union, Nepal National Civil Servants Organization, Unified Government Employees Organization Nepal, Nepal Health Workers Association, and Madhesi Health Workers Forum Nepal—must be vacated.
