Mexican singer Herbert Caleth Ibarra Castro arrested by ICE
TEXSAS:- ICE has taken Mexican singer Herbert Kaleth Ibarra Castro into custody. His lawyer stated that Ibarra, who is married to a U.S. citizen, was arrested the day after filing the necessary legal documents for his green card.
Following singer Castro’s detention by ICE, Democratic Congressman Joaquin Castro of Texas has strongly demanded his release.
According to Congressman Castro, while in custody, an immigration center employee mistreated Ibarra by telling him, “If you sing a song for me, I will let you go.” His lawyer stated that Ibarra sang the U.S. national anthem while in detention on July 4th.
An immigration judge approved Ibarra’s bond during a hearing held on Wednesday. His lawyer stated that he would be released within the next few days once the required bond amount is posted. Ibarra had come to the United States with his family at the age of four to escape violence in Mexico.
Immigration-related enforcement actions in the U.S. have intensified significantly since the start of Donald Trump’s second term. In a span of just five days at the end of June, ICE arrested approximately 10,000 people.
According to the Department of Homeland Security, a plan has been introduced offering $2,600 and a free airline ticket to encourage undocumented foreign nationals currently in the U.S. to leave the country voluntarily. The government has warned that those who do not accept this offer will be arrested and deported, and barred from ever returning to the United States in the future.
