Nepal Telecom’s damaged fibre network restored in Rasuwagadhi, Betrawati
KATHMANDU:- Nepal Telecom has restored its fibre network in Rasuwagadhi and Betrawati which was damaged by the August 26 flash flood. It is the first phase of restoration.
Nepal Telecom informed that the devastative flood had swept away the optical line terminals in Rasuwagadhi and Betrawati, five fibre cabinets (FDC) in Rasuwa, Betrawati and Trishuli and nearly 128-km aerial optical fibre cable. Total 1,544 FTTH lines were affected by the disaster.
The telecommunications agency had prioritized the repair and restoration of the damaged network with the mobilization of technical workforce and other resources immediately after the disaster.
Out of the damaged network, 1,093 FTTH lines have been resumed, according to Telecom’s spokesperson Kamal Lamichhane. Remaining lines would be restored based on geographical condition, urgency to settlements, technical feasibility and customers’ demand.
