Hearing continues on petitions of Oli, Lekhak

KATHMANDU:- The hearing on the writ petitions filed at the Supreme Court (SC) demanding the release of CPN (UML) Chairman and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, and Nepali Congress leader and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak would be continued on Monday as well, according to the SC.

SC Spokesperson Arjun Prasad Koirala said that the hearing will continue on Monday, citing the lack of time for Justices Binod Sharma and Sunil Kumar Pokharel. Chairman Oli’s spouse, Radhika Shakya, and Lekhak’s spouse, Yashoda Lekhak, had filed habeas corpus petitions stating that the leaders were being held in unlawful detention.

Earlier on March 30, the SC had issued show cause order in the writ petitions filed, calling for the release of CPN (UML) Chairman Oli and NC leader Lekhak from detention.

Oli and Lekhak were detained from their residences after the current government decided to implement the report of the inquiry commission formed to investigate the September 8 and 9 protests and subsequent incidents. RSS
