Bhote Koshi Flood Update: Bodies of 1,335 people recovered
KATHMANDU:- The Nepal Police has stated that the bodies of 1,335 people have been recovered so far following the devastating floods in the Bhote Koshi river of Rasuwa.
Of these, the bodies were recovered as follows: 160 in Rasuwa, 193 in Nuwakot, 67 in Dhading, 362 in Chitwan, 74 in Gorkha, 38 in Tanahun, 222 in Nawalparasi East, and 219 in Nawalparasi West, totaling 1,335 bodies.
Nepal Police has stated that, following the completion of necessary procedures—including the collection of DNA samples for identification—a total of 1,030 recovered bodies have been managed (safely interred).
Furthermore, a total of 2,272 DNA samples have been collected for identification purposes—comprising 1,260 samples from the deceased and 1,012 from their relatives—and details regarding the 1,292 unidentified bodies have been uploaded to the Nepal Police website.
Similarly, police have reported that 13,098 people affected by the floods have been rescued so far, while search operations are underway for 4,887 missing individuals.
