Nepali chef Tank Sapkota raised 5.1 million rupees from Portugal for flood victims

LISBON:- Tank Sapkota, a Nepali chef working in Portugal, has donated NPR 5.1 million for the rescue and relief of citizens affected by the devastating floods in Bhote Koshi, Rasuwa.

Prakashmani Paudel, Nepal’s Ambassador to Portugal, informed that Sapkota deposited the amount into the Prime Minister’s Natural Disaster Relief Fund. Ambassador Paudel described Sapkota’s contribution towards the relief and rescue of citizens affected by the natural disaster as praiseworthy and inspiring.

Sapkota stated that he provided assistance to citizens facing hardship on behalf of his family, following consultation with his brother, Laxmi Prasad Sapkota, and his wife, Sita Sapkota.

Originally from Damek, Baglung, Sapkota has been living in Portugal with his family for the past 30 years and operates four restaurants—three Italian and one Nepali—in the capital, Lisbon.

Previously, during the coronavirus pandemic, he had also provided free meals to around 10,000 people in the capital, Lisbon.
