Trump announces $1 million reward for voter fraud information
LOS ANGELES:- One week ahead of the U.S. midterm elections, President Donald Trump has announced a reward of 1 million U.S. dollars for anyone who provides information about voter fraud that leads to an arrest and conviction. Various opinion polls indicate that this election could prove challenging for his Republican Party.
The Trump administration has recently adopted a more aggressive strategy regarding election oversight. By requesting voter registration data from the states, it has argued that stringent measures are necessary to bolster public confidence in the electoral process.
However, political analysts, as well as Democratic and some Republican election officials, have interpreted this as an intervention that lies beyond the authority of the federal government.
On Monday, Trump wrote on his social media platform, ‘Truth Social’:
A reward of $1 million will be offered to anyone who provides information regarding voter fraud—whether in past elections or the upcoming 2026 midterm elections—that leads to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrator.
Some election officials have stated that they are making preparations to address potential federal interference in the midterm elections.
President Trump has previously been embroiled in controversy due to misleading and false claims regarding elections, including his refusal to accept his defeat in the 2020 election. At that time, his supporters attacked the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, in an unsuccessful attempt to block the certification of the election results.
Currently, the Republican Party holds a narrow majority in both the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate.
However, ahead of the midterm elections—which will determine who gains control of Congress—voters are concerned about rising prices for daily necessities and increased fuel costs driven by tensions involving the U.S., Israel, and Iran; consequently, Trump’s popularity rating remains low.
