‘NRNA largely lost its prestige and appeal over past few years’

BERLIN:- Jiba Lamichhane, former President and Patron of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), has stated that the organization needs to be made more robust and dynamic by handing over leadership to the new generation.

Sharing his views via Facebook on Sunday morning, Lamichhane expressed the opinion that leadership by the new generation should be cultivated in social organizations in keeping with the times, and that they should be the ones to drive the organization forward.

He stated that it would not be appropriate for the trend seen in Nepali politics—where the same generation and the same individuals remain in leadership for decades—to be replicated within the NRNA. Noting that it is not feasible for the older generation to perpetually dedicate their time, resources, and energy to the organization, he mentioned that they had endeavored to pave the way for the organization’s progress by contributing as much as possible during their tenure.

“Now, the new generation must take the organization forward along that path, bringing their own vision, capabilities, and energy,” said Lamichhane. He maintains that the ability of the organization to move forward smoothly without the presence or active involvement of the older generation is a sign of institutional development.

Lamichhane has also acknowledged that the NRNA has largely lost its prestige and appeal over the past few years. He stated that instead of blaming any single individual or group, everyone should take responsibility for their own share.

Lamichhane has also expressed his gratitude to the media personnel for respectfully raising the issue while acknowledging the contributions of the older generation.
