Nepali cricket team announced under the leadership of Captain Sandeep Lamichhane
KATHMANDU:- The Nepali cricket team has been announced for the 20th Asian Games (Asiad), scheduled to begin on Asoj 3 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has announced the 15-member squad for the Asiad. The team includes Dipendra Singh Airee, Rohit Kumar Paudel, Sompal Kami, Karan KC, Sandeep Lamichhane, Aarif Sheikh, Aasif Sheikh, Kushal Bhurtel, Lalit Rajbanshi, Gulsan Kumar Jha, Nandan Yadav, Lokesh Bam, Sandeep Jora, Sher Malla, and Kushal Malla.
Nepal’s men’s cricket team will compete in Group A at the Asian Games. This group includes Nepal alongside hosts Japan and Afghanistan. Meanwhile, Group B consists of Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Oman.
India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan have secured direct entry into the quarter-finals. The top two teams from the group stage will advance to the quarter-finals. If Nepal reaches the quarter-finals, they will have the opportunity to play against strong teams like India and Pakistan.
Earlier, Nepal played against India in the quarter-finals of the 19th Asian Games held in China. Nepal was defeated in that match. The Asian Games matches will be played in the T20 format.
