Indian-origin Srinath Beldona appointed dean of Michigan Technological University

MICHIGAN:- Michigan Technological University has appointed Srinath Beldona, who is of Indian origin, as the Dean of the College of Business.

Beldona joined Michigan Technological University in June of this year; prior to this appointment, he served as the Chief Academic Officer.

Following his appointment, Beldona outlined his priorities, stating that he aims to strengthen collaboration between the ‘College of Business’ and other academic disciplines, as well as expand partnerships with the industry and alumni.

Beldona asserted that the college can serve as a bridge between technology, business, and leadership, helping to transform research and innovation into practical solutions and professional opportunities.

Beldona said, “I see a great opportunity to further strengthen the college’s existing strengths while building stronger relationships across the university.”

He also emphasized plans to expand interdisciplinary teaching and research by establishing strong connections with programs in engineering, computing, health, and natural resources.

He said, “In the coming years, as the ‘College of Business’ and the ‘College of Computing’ will be housed in the same building within the university’s proposed ‘Center for Convergence and Innovation,’ I see even greater opportunities for collaboration in the areas of teaching, research, and innovation.”

He has prior experience serving as the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at the University of Dallas’s ‘Satish & Yasmin Gupta College of Business’ and as the Dean of the ‘Meinders School of Business’ at Oklahoma City University.

Beldona holds an MBA from Savitribai Phule Pune University, as well as an MS and a PhD from Temple University.
