NEW YORK:- The Jersey City Council in New Jersey, USA, has formally honored Nepali playback singer, composer, and artist Yubaraj Chaulagain in recognition of his contributions to Nepali music, culture, and the expatriate Nepali community. The certificate of honor, issued in July 2026, describes Chaulagain as an influential and inspiring figure in the contemporary journey of Nepali music.
The certificate of honor was presented during a ceremony held at City Hall on Tuesday. Dr. Bishnu Maya Pariyar—who serves as the ‘Diversity and Inclusion Advisor’ appointed by the Mayor of Jersey City and as a commissioner on the New Jersey Governor’s ‘Asian American Pacific Islander Commission’—handed over the certificate to Chaulagain.
The certificate of honor, signed by Councilman-at-Large Rolando Lavarro, specifically highlights Chaulagain’s contributions to the Nepali music sector spanning over two decades. Noting that he has recorded more than 400 songs across film and contemporary music genres, the certificate states that this milestone achievement has established him as a respected and accomplished artist in the world of Nepali music.
