9th International Nepali Literature Conference begins in Colorado, USA

By Roshan Adhikari, LOS ANGELES:- The 9th International Nepali Literature Conference organized by the International Nepali Literature Society (INLS) began on Saturday in Colorado, USA.

The conference was inaugurated jointly by Madan Puraskar winner and chief guest Dr. Nabaraj Lamsal, founding president of the society Homnath Subedi, current president Sarvagya Wagle, and Board of Trustees Chairman Padam Bishwakarma.

Inaugurating the conference, Lamsal said that the International Nepali Literature Society is an organization established as an international platform for Nepali-speaking authors and writers.

Lamsal said that Nepali literature would not be complete if the literature of the Nepali diaspora were kept separate. In his inaugural address, Lamsal said that the Nepali language and literature would remain incomplete if the literature of the Nepali diaspora were kept separate.

In his inaugural address, Lamsal said that the Nepali language and literature will remain incomplete if it is left out of literature written by writers outside the Nepal.

Madan Puraskar winner Lamsal, Dr. Neelam Karki Niharika, critic Mahesh Poudel and Acharya Rajan were honored at the conference.

The conference, which began under the chairmanship of ANESAS President Sarvagya Wagle, was inaugurated by Kiran Adhikari, President of ANESAS Colorado Chapter, who was the conference coordinator. The program was conducted by ANESAS General Secretary Raju Sitaula and Treasurer Tara Adhikari.

The three-day conference will feature over a dozen important sessions and discussions on topics such as ‘Fiction in History and History in Fiction’ and the role of diaspora journalism in promoting Nepali language literature. Various literary figures, writers, and journalists will also discuss the spread of Nepali literature in the Nepali diaspora. The conference will continue till Monday.

The conference will be attended by NRNA NCC America President Satendra Sah, Madan Puraskar-winning writer Neelam Karki Niharika, senior Deuda singer Nanda Krishna Joshi, renowned English writer Dr. Jacqueline Kerbeck, Red O’Loughlin, Radheshyam Lekali, former editor-in-chief and writer Sudhir Sharma, editor-in-chief Basant Basnet, editor Babita Basnet, and former president of the Federation of Nepali Journalists Bipul Pokharel.

Similarly, TV presenter Narayan Shrestha, NEJA President Suraj Bhandari, and 200 literary figures, writers, journalists, and representatives of organizations from Nepal, America, Europe, and other countries are participating.
