Govt. focused in development, investment expansion thru int’l relations: Minister Khanal

KATHMANDU:- Minister for Foreign Affairs, Shishir Khanal, has shared that the government is committed to effectively using international relations for the country’s development and promotion of economic prosperity and national welfare.

At a programme organised by Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Tokha Municipality-9 today, Minister Khanal opined that Nepal’s international relations are based on diplomatic, economic, cultural, and strategic relations with different countries and international organisations of the world.

Stating that Nepal has been adopting an independent, non-aligned and balanced foreign policy, he argued that Nepal’s foreign policy is based on the Constitution of Nepal, Charter of the United Nations, Principles of Panchasheel, and the values of Non-Aligned Movement.

Nepal’s international relations are balanced, friendly, and based on multilateral cooperation, the Foreign Minister underlined that the main objective of Nepal’s foreign policy is to protect national welfare, economic development, peace, and strengthen international collaboration.

He said, “I am actively involved in providing prompt services to citizens by ending dilly-dallying taking place in the ministry. We have made the passport distribution process very easy. One can get a passport within two to three days after submitting the application.”

The government has been carrying out activities as per the 100-point commitment letter made public by it after the election, he added.

Expressing concern over the decreasing level of groundwater in the Gongabu area, Minister Khanal said coordination with the local level was underway for water management of the Shivapuri watershed area. RSS
